Platform Architecture
The Liver Triculture MPS is built on the modular NANOSTACKS™ platform, incorporating primary human hepatocytes, hepatic stellate cells, and liver endothelial cells in physically separated compartments for investigation of stromal and vascular modulation.
Unlike monoculture systems, this configuration maintains hepatocyte–stromal–endothelial interactions to capture microenvironment-driven drug responses and fibrosis-linked mechanistic pathways during chronic exposure.

Each layer represents a discrete, permeable cellular compartment.
Validated Performance
The Liver Triculture MPS demonstrates sustained hepatocyte metabolic function under endothelial and stellate cell cross-talk, confirming hepatocyte-intrinsic viability and performance in a multicellular microenvironment.
Representative validation data

Representative albumin secretion over extended culture periods demonstrates sustained hepatocyte metabolic competence in the presence of supporting stromal and endothelial cells, validating the baseline performance of the triculture configuration.
Key Model Capabilities
- ≥28-day functional stability
- Sustained hepatocyte metabolic function
- Stromal–hepatocyte cross-talk
- Enhanced fibrosis-relevant responses
This model is optimized for stromal and vascular modulation studies and does not include immune cells; immune-hepatic interactions are addressed in the Liver Tetraculture MPS.
